I have taught college-level Calc I so many times that other professors were following my lead by the time I quit. I have also taught mathematics up to a combined differential equations and linear algebra class.
The research I did for my Ph.D. was an extension of the theory that won the 2013 Nobel Prize.
My approach to tutoring is observe the students, ask them questions, and once I understand where they are, get them as far along the learning curve as possible. And try to show them some of the fun things along the way.
