- I've been tutoring for a year now.
- Prior to tutoring I taught for 3 years.
Isn't it time you give your kids a tutor that can not only teach the material, but also make learning a pleasant experience? Truth is most children like learning, when we are young we consider a trip to the zoo or museum an exciting adventure. When a child faces obstacles to their learning, it stops being fun. Once those obstacles are removed learning becomes exciting again. When youth are able to perfect new skills it boosts their self-esteem and leads to future success. In order to get there youth need a safe comfortable environment in which to learn without judgment.
When it comes to math I teach not only how to get the right answers, but also why the answer is right and how to check their work so they know come test day if they've made any small errors. I work not only with them at their current level, but also strengthen their core math skills (addition, subtraction, division, and multiplication) so they can predict answers before entering them into their calculators and have the skills to solve problems they haven't encountered before.
Nobody likes to feel behind in their English. I match age appropriate materials with students' skill level. When working with essay writing I focus first on giving the child the skills to express their concepts in an organized fashion and then work on improving their grammar and spelling. Unlike other tutors I don't promise "instant" improvement. Why? Its very hard to suddenly be expected to know hundreds of new rules. The exception to this is of course college applications. There I take several sessions to draft and edit an essay. Why? This is a reflection of the applicant not his/her tutor. Colleges and universities look for the applicants personality to shine through and if I pushed a teenager through the process, it would look like a strange hybrid of personalities shining through.

*While this might not be the case and the tutor might just be on vacation or your e-mail got lost in the shuffle its best to assume the tutor is busy.
