About Diving
Diving is an expressive acrobatic sport that involves jumping or falling into water from a platform, springboard, or other elevation. It is one of the most popular pool-related sports offered in the Olympic games, and involves both a high level of physical dexterity as well as an artistic vision. Three impartial judges judge diving competitions, and divers are scored according to their technique. This technique is usually divided into three very specific areas: the approach, the flight, and the entry. Although this entire process takes only seconds, a great deal of precision and style must be executed. Before a competition, divers must submit the dives that they are going to attempt, so that the judges can judge them according to the routine.
When learning to dive competitively, there are several elements that divers must learn. Some of them include dive positions, dive numbers, the mechanics of diving, trajectory, control of rotation, twisting, entry, training, and physical conditioning. The best way to learn these techniques is to work one-on-one with a dive tutor.
