Posted: Apr 29th 2014 at 01:48 AM
Hi there I have just moved to Chicago and I am looking to find a Czech tutor. I have been learning the Czech language for over a year and I'm really keen to continue learning as its something I'm really passionate about. I used to have two classes per week each lasting one hour. I am flexible for anything from just one class per week to three or four. Please let me know if you can help me, I'd really love to continue learning as soon as possible. Thanks for your time Seana
About Czech
The Czech language is part of the Western Slavic language set. Nearly 12 million people speak Czech worldwide, with the majority of its speakers living in Czech Republic. Even though the Slovak language is considered to be a separate language from Czech, the two languages share many fundamental similarities and are mutually understood between their respective speakers. The Polish and Sorbian languages of eastern Germany are also quite similar and can be understood by speakers of Czech to a certain extent as well. The language contains its own Czech alphabet, which is generally a form of the Latin alphabet that we use in English, but with Cyrillian elements that must be learned as well. In addition, there are other major elements of the language that must also be mastered, such as vocabulary, word order, conjugation, declension, grammar, syntax, phonology, pronunciation, and expressions.
Because the Czech language is not one of the common foreign languages studied in the United States, it can often be difficult to locate a college, university, or language school that offers courses in it. As a result, hiring a Czech language tutor to work one-on-one is a good idea for learning the basics of the language.
